I am deeply honored to have been selected to receive the Wilma Ulrick Memorial Scholarship for the Fall 2025 school year. When I received the email, I literally cried, not just out of excitement, but out of gratitude. I’ve applied for scholarships every semester since starting college, and to finally receive one felt like a moment of recognition for every challenge I’ve overcome.
I lost my mother when I was twelve and spent my teenage years in foster care. Those experiences taught me strength, independence, and the importance of never giving up, even when life gets hard. Becoming a young mother pushed me to mature quickly and fueled my determination to create a better future for myself and my child. Education became my path forward, my way of breaking cycles and proving that my past does not define my potential.
I’m currently pursuing an associate degree in Marketing and Sales at Phoenix College, to help small businesses and entrepreneurs share their stories through creative and heartfelt marketing. I hope to build my own business one day that not only reflects my passion for creativity but also encourages others, especially young women and single parents, to believe in their dreams and reach their goals.
Balancing school, work, and motherhood hasn’t been easy, but this scholarship lightens that burden. It allows me to focus more on my studies and less on financial stress. Most of all, it reminds me that there are people who believe in students like me, people who see potential beyond our circumstances.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and belief in my journey. Your kindness will always be a part of my story, and I hope to pay it forward by helping others in the same way you’ve helped me.
