"I am sincerely honored and appreciative to learn that I was selected as the recipient of your scholarship."
Receiving this scholarship means the world to me, thank you so much! I am going to school and continuing my education to be a nurse. I have dreamt of being a nurse for as long as I can remember. I have always felt the need to help others and making a difference in someone's life is something that makes me content. I am incredibly grateful to have been accepted into the Paradise Valley Community College nursing program. I plan to work my absolute hardest to be the best student I can be. I am going into block two this fall! I know in my heart that I will be an amazing nurse someday. I am very hopeful for the future, and I am excited about this huge stepping stone that will lead me closer to achieving my goals. I also have an amazing daughter who is my biggest motivation to be someone who makes a difference in life. Lyon's Pride Annabell Castillo, Scottsdale Community College Dear Donor, I am sincerely honored and appreciative to learn that I was selected as the recipient of your scholarship. I am currently enrolled in Maricopa’s CEP Nursing program. This accelerated program entails completing my ADN at Scottsdale Community College, while completing my BSN at Arizona State University, in which I plan to graduate in the fall of 2024. My long-term goal is to become an Oncology Nurse. Thanks to your generous scholarship, I am now one-step closer to achieving that goal. Additionally, in my academic career, I have maintained a 3.5 GPA and am an Honors Student. Aside from my academics, I currently work full-time as a Nursing Assistant at Mayo Clinic Hospital in order to pay for school and achieve my dreams in becoming a nurse. At work, I am one of the main preceptors that train new employees during their orientation. I have also been certified in training others on how to use patient transferring devices safely. I have set aside savings from overtime shifts I work weekly in order to financially support my goals. Although achieving my dreams has been financially difficult and has caused financial hardship, these challenges have taught me resilience and grit. It has motivated me in putting forth my best effort at work and in my academic career. Furthermore, as a first generation Asian-American and one of the first in my family to attend college and be in the medical field, being a selected recipient for your scholarship is a great privilege. Knowing how my grandparents fled Laos in the 1970’s with their nine children in order to seek a better life for their family and future generations to come, it has always been a dream and goal of mine to show them that their courage and hard-work was all worth it. Additionally, it is my dream and goal to prove to not only my grandparents, but my own parents how their work ethics have also inspired my life. A few months ago, my family experienced a tragedy. My father passed away on December 21, 2021, just a few days before Christmas. With his passing, it has allowed me to reminisce on all the life lessons I have learned growing up, and has given me more of a reason to pursue and achieve my RN degree. Despite the recent obstacles, receiving your scholarship has provided me with the opportunity and motivation to continue my education to eventually make my family and community proud.
"I am extremely honored and humbled to be the recipient of this award."
"I am extremely honored and humbled to be the recipient of this award." Glendale Community College and Northern Arizona University student Dara is embarking on her final year in the BSN/RN program, as she has aspired to become a nurse since she was a small child. “I did not imagine my dream could become a reality as my parents did not attend college and continuously struggled to make financial ends meet,” she said. She continues, “after having the privilege of serving in the United States Army, I realized that my calling is to serve our community and realized that I would like to combine a nursing career into my service.” Receiving a scholarship allows Dara to make her dream possible. A single mother of three young children, the challenge of affording both nursing school and childcare has been challenging and this past semester she was unable to afford the cost of childcare which interfered with her ability to focus on studies while her children were awake. However, through determination, she excelled in each of her classes. She said when talking about her scholarship, “I will always remember the kindness and want to emphasize how deeply it has touched my heart and my life. You have empowered me as a student, as a mother, a veteran, and as a future nurse. Thank you.”
“Knowing that you support my dream means so much to me,”
“Knowing that you support my dream means so much to me,” said Kristell, a student at Chandler-Gilbert Community College and a participant in the ACE Program while in high school, which gave her a head start to higher education. “This scholarship makes it easier, because I will not have to worry about needing to make as much money to pay off the student loans and I am able to pay for Fall 2022 tuition.” In addition to school, Kristell spends her time volunteering at organizations such as Guthrie and student teaching, in order to gain more experience and hands-on learning.“Thank you so much for this scholarship, and most importantly, thank you for believing in me,” she said.

“The planet needs all the help it can get and I will be a part of the change that it desperately needs,” said Isabella, a Mesa Community College student studying Sustainability and Environmental Studies. Ever since she was a little girl, nature has been really important to Isabella, and she grew up eager to protect all plants and animals. “Every day I make efforts in my life to help the environment - such as picking up trash, cutting down my water and power use, recycling, and more,” she commented. “I am very passionate about the environment and protecting the planet we live on so that future generations will have a beautiful place to live.” Isabella feels that the world needs all of humanity to join together to make a true difference and cannot wait to be a part of it. Upon graduation, Isabella is excited for the many avenues she can take and is interested in being a part of ocean conservation and helping re-grow the coral reefs. She plans to be really involved in the community and helping the local ecosystems and her scholarship is a jumpstart to her plans, by allowing her to focus on her education. “Words cannot express the overwhelming gratitude I have right now. I am committed to success with the help of your investment. Thank you so much for this opportunity,” she said.
