A Brief History Of The Foundation
The Maricopa County Community College District Foundation was established by employees of the Maricopa County Community College District who constituted the first Board of Directors
Dr. Mildred Bulpitt becomes the first Director of the Foundation
A voluntary Board of Directors formed and spent the first year “friend-raising”
Board of Directors adopt the Honors Forum series as a special fundraising event to subsidize Honors Scholarships
Rea Bennett becomes the second full-time Executive Director
Steve Schenk becomes Chief Executive Officer
Chancellor Rufus Glasper announces a reorganization of his Executive Council and appoints Dr. Steve Helfgot as the first President and Chief Executive Officer
Christina Schultz becomes President and Chief Executive Officer
The Foundation is currently led by President and CEO, Brian F. Spicker
Important Initiatives
The Foundation conducted a major fundraising campaign, raising $6.2 million, resulting in the distribution of more than $1.7 million in scholarships
The Foundation executed the “Investing in Arizona” campaign, raising $12.8 million in new scholarship funds
ACE (Achieving A College Education) fundraising campaign launched to expand ACE program to all 10 community colleges.This campaign raises $8 million to expand program to all 10 colleges and 70 area high schools, with more than 2,000 students enrolled annually.
The Foundation conducted a focused campaign to address regional and statewide low high school graduation and college attendance rates. This campaign expanded the Maricopa Community College District’s ACE (Achieving a College Education) program.
ACE fundraisng campaign raises $8 million to expand program to all 10 colleges.
The Foundation launched the campaign for student success to support students and programs at all 10 colleges.
Campaign for Student Success raisers over $50 million to support students and programs.
