As a lifelong learner and alumna of Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC), Carolyn Szatkowski personally witnessed the efficacy of the community college experience and, as a result, has become a tireless and relentless voice, advocate and champion for all of the Maricopa Community Colleges. She spends over 20 hours a week working on behalf of PVCC, and she is constantly “on the lookout” for new opportunities for student access and success. Carolyn’s passion for education sees no boundaries.
Engaging the campus in positive social change initiatives is Carolyn’s greatest contribution. Her efforts to strengthen communities and broaden perspectives are exemplified in her service to Paradise Valley Community College. Carolyn has an uncanny ability to see opportunities for collaboration that create alignment with our learning-centered college philosophy. Carolyn is a champion in our community and demonstrates extraordinary efforts to improve the world. She has exhibited innovation and creativity in delivering programming that inspires and supports all learners to increase their capacity for personal growth and positive social change.
As an ardent advocate for education, Carolyn’s volunteerism has greatly advanced the college and has measurably impacted PVCC over the last decade. Carolyn’s philanthropic spirit is evidenced in the leadership she provided to create the Dr. Lois Roma-Deeley Endowed Scholarship for Creative Writing, her active participation in the College’s Philanthropy Council, and her instrumental support and engagement in PVCC’s year-long 30th Anniversary celebration. Additionally, Carolyn’s sustained commitment to civic participation inspires others to improve their communities and strengthen the quality of life for Arizonans.
