Supporters of 34 funds and initiatives for more than 30 years, including the Glasper Family African American Student Scholarship, the ACE (Achieving a College Education) Program, and many more, emeritus Maricopa County Community College Chancellor Dr. Rufus Glasper and his wife Debra, have a strong commitment to ensuring that educational dreams become realities for students across the ten Maricopa Community Colleges.
“The Maricopa Community Colleges District would not be able to support students in need at the level they do without the Foundation,” Dr Glasper said. “Their guiding principles to work collectively and responsibly to meet the life-long learning needs of diverse students and communities are reflected in the Colleges’ vision statement and in the Foundation’s vision statement of ensuring access and opportunity, furthering educational excellence, and enriching individuals, communities and the economy in Maricopa County.”
Prior to his current role as President and CEO of the League for Innovation, Dr. Glasper spent more than 30 years with the Maricopa County Community College District, with 13 as chancellor. During his time at the helm of one of the nation’s largest community college systems, Glasper was involved in a $950 million bond referendum, saw the system reach an all-time high enrollment of 275,000 students, helped create a corporate college for businesses, and developed better articulation agreements with four-year state institutions, among other accomplishments. Before becoming chancellor, Glasper served as director of finance, chief financial officer, and vice-chancellor.
