Dr. Teresa Leyba-Ruiz, President, Glendale Community College (GCC) knows first-hand the trials and challenges our students face today. With that in mind, she believes the purpose of a community college is to offer a path to empowerment through education and a chance to reach for dreams and goals that students never thought would be within their grasp.
“I was a college student, then a teacher, and now the president of Glendale Community College,” Dr. Leyba-Ruiz said. ” As a proud, first-generation college student, I have a passion for watching students develop and succeed.”
That is why Dr. Ruiz has been generously supporting student success by contributing to many different scholarships and programs across the Maricopa District for more than 20 years. These include the GCC Food Pantry Fund, the Women’s Philanthropy Group, the Latino Legacy Scholarship, and many more.
“I want students to be empowered to create their own definition of success,” she said. “I’m honored to be here to help.”
