“First off, I would like to give a huge thank you for awarding me your scholarship! From the
bottom of my heart, it means so much that you would consider me for this award.
I wanted to start off my long educational journey at Scottsdale Community College to
understand the basics of the film industry. I wanted to make connections with the professors
there and meet new students who share my same goals. It has been a lovely time over at SCC
thus far. My major is film media production, but I’m mostly prioritizing animation for my student
films. I want to understand the fundamentals of film so I can use this knowledge for my
animations.
After I receive my degree, I plan on attending Cal Arts. I also plan on working in the field in
California with my associates, making more connections and meeting new people. I've been
living by myself for approximately 6 months or so. Doing school and working can make my
schedule very busy, but with your donation, I will have time to focus more on school. I will be
able to get new gear to help me flesh out my skills even more. Better gear makes it easier to
practice on my own time and continue to build my portfolio into something I can be proud to
show one day.
I’ve been practicing computer 2D animation heavily. I’ve been learning hand-drawn animation,
rigging, blender, and cel animation. I’ve been able to make some films I can say have potential.
Even my film professors really love my work and have said some of the nicest comments I have
ever received for hard work.
When I watch movies, shows, or even experience stories in video games, I can’t help but feel
like the creator is sitting me down and telling me about their own life experiences. It’s almost like
I’m getting life advice directly from them. I want to do the same for other people. I want to make
films and help people with their own struggles. That is the reason why I make films.
Once again, thank you for your donation! I hope one day I can accomplish my hopes and dreams. With your help, I’m now one step closer,
thank you!”
